Biography
Joe is a firm believer that no human is “too much” or a burden because of their emotions. His practice seeks to create a safe space for clients to process emotions fully without fear of judgment or punishment. As a trauma/emotion-focused therapist who is collaborative and experiential, Joe views sessions as an opportunity to release pain and access the strongest parts of oneself to aid in long-term healing.
Joe is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who practices therapy with individuals, couples, and families. He uses a variety of effective techniques to support clients, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems, Somatic Therapy, and Emotion-focused practices. Additionally, he is committed to LGBTQ+ & gender-affirming care.
In addition to earning a master’s degree in clinical social work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a bachelor’s degree in human resource development/family social science from University of Minnesota, Joe has dedicated himself to ongoing learning within the field. He is an EMDR-certified therapist through EMDR International Association and holds a certificate in advanced clinical supervision from Smith College School for Social Work. He is also currently completing an intensive (yearlong) certificate program in couple and family systems therapy.
Joe cares most about nurturing his relationship with each client. A relationship in which they not only work through life’s struggles, but also have moments of laughter, joy, and celebration together.
