Biography

Andrew Castillo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) whose areas of focus include, but are not limited to: major depression and anxiety, PTSD/complex trauma, substance abuse/dependency, LGBTQ issues, family and relationship issues, low self-esteem, and adjustment disorders. Andrew’s clinical background spans over 10 years of work with individuals, couples, and families, focusing on aiding people in identifying problematic patterns and developing their individual strengths to create lasting change. He recognizes the importance of providing an unbiased, non-judgmental space for his clients to process and grow. Andrew is passionate about working with clients of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and believes cultural humility to be an essential part of best practice.

Therapy is a collaborative effort and the client’s needs guide intervention. Utilizing a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and harm-reduction/abstinence-based treatments, Andrew will work with you in developing a treatment plan tailor-made to your individual needs.

Andrew is a lifelong Chicagoland resident and received his MSW from the University of Illinois at Chicago Jane Addams School of Social Work. Andrew earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, (with a minor in linguistics!) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
